Session A: CPR/First Aid
Date:Monday - July 31, 2006

Presenters: Mountain Plains Health Consortium Staff members and contracted staff

(Limited to 60 participants - cards will be issued upon successful completion)

Training Course Description: The CPR course offered by MPHC utilizes the new 2005 American Hospital Association (AHA) guidelines for Adult/Child/Infant and the new AED protocol. The course is the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) CPR Pro program and successful students will receive ASHI Certification. If AHA certification is required by any participants, students must take both written exams.




Session B: HIPAA Training

Presenter: Pat Gowan

Patricia A. Gowan is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Currently, she is the Indian Health Service Phoenix Area Health Information Management (Health Records) Consultant as well as the Acting Lead/Principal Health Information Management. In these two roles she also serves as the HIPAA Privacy/Privacy Act Advocate. Past experiences include Director, Health Information Management, Whiteriver Service Unit and Assistant Director, Health Information Management, Phoenix Indian Medical Center. She earned her undergraduate degree in Health Information Management from Carroll College, Helena, Montana, and a graduate degree in Public Administration from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona. She is a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), Health Information Management Association of Arizona (HIMA of AZ) and American Academy of Professional Coders.

Training Course Description:
All attendees will sign-in for the HIPAA training and this sheet will be maintained for 6 years per HIPAA. The certificate provided upon successful completion of the course is proof of HIPAA Privacy training.




Session C: CHR -PCC General and Specialized Report Retrieval

Presenter: Toni Jarland

Finalizing 24+ years of service with Indian Health Service, Ms. Jarland currently serves as a Private Contractor for Cimarron Medical Informatics (CMI). CMI provides system development, implementation, operational support, and customer training relative to all aspects of the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS). This includes development of new RPMS Software Applications, modifications and enhancements to existing RPMS Applications, and interfaces between commercial software packages. Ms. Jarland is currently serving as the Lead National Programmer for the RPMS Contract Health Service (CHR) Package.

Training Course Description: The RPMS CHR/PCC Information and Reporting System is utilized by Community Health Representatives (CHR's) to collect activity data. The CHR/PCC is a powerful tool, permitting CHR's to inform members of the health-care team of health-related activities taking place in the patient's home or community.

This presentation focuses on the Reports Menu Options of this Software. These options provide a means for generating a wide variety of reports from the data entered into the system and are designed to assist Users with program management and providing quality patient care.

The presentation will include demonstration and explanation of all Pre-defined Reports, including 2 specialized report options (GEN - General Retrieval Output) and (LIST - List CHR Records). These 'Search Engine' Options provide a valuable data source to extract/save customized reports
