NACHR Conference Update

As noted in our last issue, the next CHR National Education Conference will be held in 2008. The NACHR board received a grant from IHS and one of the grant objectives is to hold educational conferences every two years. We hope to better answer the needs of CHRs for updated education and training through this bi-annual conference opportunity. Start making plans to join us in 2008!

To broaden the scope of educational topics offered, the NACHR board has invited the National Native American Emergency Medical Services Association (NNAEMSA) to the 2008 conference. They will provide faculty on topics that will be of interest to CHRs and EMTs. We are also discussing with the Indian Country Law Enforcement Section (ICLES) of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) the possibility of offering additional CHR training from a police perspective. Often CHRs are exposed to domestic violence incidents, automobile crashes, suicides and homicides where Tribal police are involved, so this training could be very valuable.

The NACHR board is excited to bring more information, education and training to all CHRs. Make your voice heard. What kind of training would you like to receive at the next CHR conference? Write us at feedback@nachr.net.
