CHR Profiles

Woody Hansen Cherokee CHR

Woody Hansen has been with the CHR program for 10 years and was the Oklahoma Area Association CHR President for 3 years (2003-2005). He has been a great asset to the CHR program. Woody is also a very sought after speaker.

He gives presentations on poison prevention entitled "Snakes Alive", where he teaches community members about the importance of snake and spider safety.

Woody Hansen

In addition to his poison prevention message, he participates in cultural activities like story telling with the Cherokee Nation. Woody is also involved with educational theater, where they use well known characters and familiar stories to teach about health topics like diabetes, HIV/Aids or Lupus. You may have seen him in the diabetes piece Dorothy & The Scarecrow, adapted from the Wizard of Oz.

Recently Woody was involved in a serious accident. He says he is doing as well as possible and he welcomes your thoughts and prayers on his behalf. Still a dedicated educator, he is already thinking about how he is going to incorporate this experience into an educational message for our Native people.
