National CHR Education Conference

Make plans to attend the National CHR Education Conference July 28th - July 31st, 2008.

This year marks the beginning of a biennial cycle for the conference, which previously was held every three years. The conference officially kicks off with the General Session at 8:00 am Tuesday, July 29th. As always, the roster will be filled with educational opportunities on a wide variety of topics, all relevant to your work in the field. Just to name a few, we are planning sessions on methamphetamines, nutrition, crime scene safety, elderly abuse/neglect, traditional healing and disaster response.

Pre-Conference Training – Monday, July 28th

We have an excellent lineup of pre-conference training opportunities available for you this year. Class sizes are limited, register early at www.nachr.net/conferences/2008/register/. Training courses tentatively scheduled include:

	CHR PCC Coding		Safe Talk suicide alertness training (4 hours)
	STD training		First Aid and CPR Recertification (limited to first 25 students)
	HIPPAA/Privacy Act (2, 2-hour sessions)		Universal Precautions - MRSA
	Public Health Preparedness		Grant Writing (limited to first 25 students)

Roundtables

An interesting feature of this year’s conference will be the roundtable discussions. A number of relevant topics will be addressed. Keep an eye on the conference website for an opportunity to send in early feedback on these proposed topics.

	Domestic violence against men		Managing medications in the field
	CHR Managers’ tools for success		The role of NACHR

The roundtable discussions will be moderated by members of the NACHR board, and driven by you – CHRs. We want to hear what you have to say.

Awards

Years of service awards will be given to attending CHRs for milestone years (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 & 40).

Please note the following parameters for service awards: The CHR must reach their milestone year between August 1, 2006 and July 31, 2008. If your service date falls before August 1, 2006, you are no longer eligible to receive the award. Service awards must be requested by June 30th for recognition at conference.

Recognition for 5 & 10 years of service will occur during Tuesday’s general session. During Wednesday’s general session, 15 & 20 year winners will be recognized. Award winners with 25 & 30 years of service will be recognized at an evening reception. We respectfully request that attendees be limited for this event to friends, family and co-workers of the award winners. The 35 & 40 year award winners will receive their recognition at the banquet on Wednesday night. Your registration for the conference includes a ticket to the banquet. Additional tickets will be available for purchase online or at the conference.
